Today is the day to
make a choice and feel better.
Initial Evaluation
Your initial appointment will include a thorough medical and social history – this helps us identify your specific needs. We will also complete a biomechanic assessment of your posture and movement, and complete hands on testing to identify any strengths or weaknesses that are contributing to your pain. Together we will identify your goals for therapy and make a plan, specifically tailored to you, to achieve those goals. This type of appointment requires an order for physical therapy from a physician, dentist, chiropractor, or nurse practitioner prior to your appointment – we are more than happy to help you with this as well.
Treatment Sessions
Treatment sessions will build upon the evaluation, each session focusing on achieving your goals. Hands on treatment will be provided to ease muscle tension or encourage activation. Sessions may include Counterstrain, cranial sacral therapy, exercise or therapeutic activities, vestibular work, or other manual techniques. You will also be provided with a home program and education at every session to ensure that you know the why/what/how/when of your progress.
Wellness
Wellness visits are the ideal way to keep your progress going. Wellness visits are for individuals who no longer are having pain or symptoms, but would like to come in intermittently for a “tune up”. Just like you wouldn’t ignore your vehicle maintenance, your body deserves special care too! Wellness visits bring you back in with your therapist to discuss your achievements, tweak any home programming or anything else that might come up.
Discovery Visit
Starting the road to getting healthy is not a small task – it can be very intimidating and we understand that. For those clients who aren’t sure that Libertas Physical Therapy is the right fit, we do offer a 20 minute FREE introductory visit. This can be completed online or in person and does not require an order. This is a “hands off” visit that is for your education.
Telehealth
We all have busy lives and sometimes, taking time for yourself is difficult. Telehealth visits allow you to schedule 1:1 time with your therapist without having to travel, take off from work, schedule around kids, etc. Telehealth visits are a great way to check in and ensure that you are on the right track. Through online visits, we can discuss any concerns that you may have, run through your home program, complete postural assessments and anatomy education, and help you identify specific areas that need body work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Prior to your 1st visit, please complete the intake and consent forms from your portal link that you received upon scheduling. This gives us a great baseline for where you are in your health journey and where you would like to end up. Evaluation assessments that are done in person may include, but are not limited to: mobility testing, strength and balance testing, neurological tests for sensation and body awareness, palpation for tender points, and movement/biomechanic assessments. Please wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing and allow 60 minutes for the appointment.
Counterstrain is a unique treatment that allows us to treat your fascia throughout your body. Traditionally, physical therapy focused on muscles and joints, but by treating the fascia, we can impact the body in a profound way. (See education for more information on fascia) Counterstrain has been growing in popularity but requires a great deal of training, discipline and education to master the technique. In 2006, research began discussing the importance of the stretch reflex and the impact on the body [See: Stretch Reflex and Hoffman Reflex Response To Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment in subjects with Achilles Tendonitis, JAOA, Vol. 106, Sept. 2006.]
Yes, in general, this is the case, however, respect must be given to the big picture. Your body is all connected and therefore we must figure out the “cause” of your initial dysfunction. Further education on this will be provided during your treatment sessions regarding your specific situation.
Most patients will experience significant relief within 2-4 treatment sessions with a typical plan of care lasting 8-10 sessions.
Yes! In addition to hands-on treatment, patients also will be given exercise recommendations and training on proper body mechanics and ergonomics.
Libertas Physical Therapy is not contracted with any insurance companies because we do not treat insurance companies – we treat our patients and recommend what is best for our patients. Each session is “cash-based” and payment is due at the time of services. We will provide a superbill with all of the information to submit a claim to your insurance if you so choose to file on your own.
